Bill of Rights
- Freedom of religion, press, speech, and assembly. The people have the right to petition against the government if they are unhappy with it.
- Right to bear arms.
- People are allowed to refuse to house soldiers.
- No unreasonable search and seizure; no arrests to be made without a warrant.
- a. No being deprived of life, liberty, and property without process of due law. b. No being tried for the same offense twice. c. No private property to be taken without compensation.
- Right to speedy and public trial.
- Rights in civil cases: trial by jury; no fact to be reexamined by other courts.
- No cruel and unusual punishment, excessive bail/fines.
- People's retained rights cannot be taken away.
- Power that is not specified to be given to the U.S. belongs to the states and people.
